Psalm 4:1 "Answer me when I call to you, O God, who declares me innocent. Free me from my troubles. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer."
Learning the theology of the gospel is a life time of study. We would think that the more theology we gather the easier our Christian life would be and the closer to God we would get. But David in this Psalm, who was a man after God's own heart, cried out to God as though God were at a distance from him. He wrote many of the Psalms and in them is spoken the truths of our relationship with God. He was very knowledgeable in that area and yet he had occasions when he had to call out to God to hear him and help him. We, too, no matter how much theology we obtain or how close we draw to God, have desperate situations when we can only call out to God to hear us and free us from all our troubles. Let us be a people after God's own heart so we too will be heard when we call out to the Lord.
