Psalm 5:3 "Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly."
In the army the call over a trumpet is put out bright and early every morning to rouse the soldiers out of their slumber and get them up and going for the day. Then they are issued their orders for the day and spend the day following them out. Prayer is our call to waking in the morning. It is a time for talking to the Lord but also for waiting expectantly on Him to issue His orders for the day. We may not get them assigned to us such as they do in the army but coming into the presence of the Lord assures us of being heard and of hearing Him as He speaks to us through out the day.
