Psalm 7: 1,2 "I come to you for protection, O LORD my God. Save me from my persecutors-rescue me! If you don't they will maul me like a lion, tearing me to pieces with no one to rescue me."
Our enemies in life can be more than "out there" or other people. They can be found within ourselves. Addictions are our enemies. Any kind of addiction. It grabs us and tears us to pieces and throws us around like a lion mauling its prey. We are helpless and hopeless unless the great Rescuer, the LORD, comes and saves us. We cannot help ourselves. We cannot save ourselves. We have to come and call out for help like the Psalmist did, completely without the strength to save ourselves. And then learn to stay in the LORD's protection and live each hour of the day leaning on Him.
