Exodus 13:3 "So Moses said to the people, 'This is a day to remember forever-the day you left Egypt, the place of your slavery. Today the LORD has brought you out by the power of his mighty hand.
Remembering what was in the past may seem painful for some people. But my experience is that the further one moves away from it and the closer one draws to Christ the less the pain and the more one sees the way the Lord was in it all along. As the Israelites pulled out of Egypt they left 400 years of slavery behind with the spoils of Egypt in their packs and a song in their mouths. They did not leave that day remembering the cruel slavery they had lived under. Freedom from painful situations is worthy of our praise to the Lord. Like a mother forgetting the pain after childbirth, the closer we draw to the Lord, the less we feel the pain and the more we find a song of praise on our lips to offer to Him.
