Deuteronomy 7: ,8 "The LORD did not set his heart on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other nations, for you were the smallest of all nations! Rather, it was sworn to your ancestors. That is why the LORD rescued you with such a strong hand from your slavery and from the oppressive hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt."
I remember when I was a child at school At recess we would play baseball and teams were picked. The picking order started with the largest, best players, down to the smallest ones. If you want to win the baseball game, you need to have the best players. But God doesn't play that way with the Israelites. He picked them because they were the smallest, least mighty among the nations and He had promised their ancestors. Even still today, we are seeing God put His hand on just ordinary people and doing mighty ministry and missionary work through them. We may seem small before God's eyes, but we are not insignificant, instead we do extraordinary feats because of our ordinary size.
